In line with the government's ongoing policy to strengthen bilateral trade exchanges with the European Union, the Bureau of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Economic Affairs has commissioned the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) to organize the “2012 Taiwan-EU Trade Procurement Meeting.” The event will take place tomorrow (24th) at the Taipei International Convention Center, where 79 buyers from 17 countries will be present for procurement purposes. Domestic businesses are welcome to register on-site.
This procurement meeting will feature prominent EU companies, including 23 major buyers with annual revenues exceeding USD 100 million, and seven buyers with annual revenues exceeding USD 500 million. The procurement items will cover a wide range of sectors, including hardware, electrical and mechanical equipment, machinery, medical equipment, electronic components, information and communication technology, building materials, food, sporting goods, textiles, and garments. The event is expected to significantly boost Taiwan’s exports to the EU market this year.
So far, 372 Taiwanese companies have registered for 701 one-on-one meetings, including well-known companies such as TSMC, Tatung, TECO, Chunghwa Telecom, Vibo Telecom, D-Link, Acer, BenQ, Eastman Kodak, Daxin Technology, Far Eastern Biotech, Vedan, Synmax Biotech, Jih Sun International, and Cheng Kuang Pharmaceutical.
This Taiwan-EU Trade Procurement Meeting also marks the first time that EU sellers have been invited to Taiwan for promotional activities. The event is co-organized by EU offices in Taiwan with sevensellers from five countries—France, the UK, Spain, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic—participating. This initiative highlights Taiwan’s commitment to fostering bilateral trade and economic cooperation with the EU, making it a highly symbolic event. Detailed information about the one-on-one procurement and sales meetings, including schedules, buyer background information, and procurement and sales items, has been published on the dedicated website (europa.taiwantrade.com.tw). Domestic importers and relevant businesses are particularly encouraged to register for meetings with the seven EU companies.
